Megan Bernhardt Photography

Is a full-service photography studio specializing in Lifestyle and Wedding portraiture based in Austin, Texas but is available for travel upon request.

A good photographer can turn a simple photo shoot into an extraordinary event through the images they compose and the beauty they create.

When you hire a professional, you are paying for so much more than just pictures. You are paying for the photographer’s expertise in a form of art which they have put years into studying, learning and mastering, developing their own unique style along the way. You are paying for quality equipment with the knowledge and ability to use it not only properly, but to its best advantage in the moment. Your are paying for hours of time spent behind a computer, putting the finishing touches on each shot that has been hand-selected out of countless frames. You are paying for an artist’s blood, sweat and tears- their love for what they do displayed proudly in each print. When you hire a professional, you see genuine care towards each and every client that goes above and beyond what is expected.

While I have been behind the lens for over 10 years now, I’m going into my third year of business and am absolutely loving it.

My style is part classic portraiture, part lifestyle and candid shots; I prefer to work using natural light in dynamic outdoor settings. I take the time to create an artistic vision for each session, keeping the clients in mind at all times. Through experience I have come to know what shots we will need to build your story, and I have developed the foresight to know when and where I need to be to get them. My eyes have been trained for years to spot and build compositions naturally- seamlessly capturing events as they unfold in real time.

Equally as important, I have a strong background in editing. I prefer to keep a light and airy feel to my work, while retaining a bit of contrast to help you stand out amongst your surroundings. I do not do any heavy photo-shopping or body modification in my post processing beyond a modest and natural retouching. I want you to look like you, not someone else in your photos.

My goal is to capture moments and memories that will last a lifetime. Whether they are rehearsed or the little ones that happen effortlessly as life unfurls, I will be there to document the magic of it all.

Now a Full-Service Studio

Now a Full-Service Studio

what is a full-service studio?

"Full-service" means that I strive to provide a well-rounded, all-encompassing experience for my clients. I believe that when you hire a photographer that you should be taken care of completely; that nothing should be left to chance or delayed for what may seem like factors of convenience. Yes, I am talking about printing your photographs.

Gone are the days of digitals only

I encourage all of my clients to to invest in printed products by including a Print Credit as a feature in every session package. This means that a specified portion of your session cost is already applied towards print products of your choosing. You can now rest assured knowing that you will never leave your ordering appointment without having placed an order. If you choose to purchase prints beyond what your credit covers, the credit amount will be deducted from the total cost of your print order. All of the printed products that I offer have been hand-selected for both their timeless and stylish features. Each luxury heirloom is created by a professional lab unavailable for public use, ensuring the highest quality print possible.

These are so much more than just prints, they are your memories made tangible.

I feel that as a photographer it is my duty to make sure that my clients enjoy their photos in real life every single day, not just on a digital screen inside their pocket. I do however completely understand that most of us want to share our photos on social media outlets and therefore I am happy to provide lower-resolution, watermarked files standard with all sessions for viewing purposes only. High-resolution, unwatermarked files with print rights are available for individual purchase.

what to expect

Before booking any sessions, I require an in-person consultation to discuss packages, policies and to make sure our personalities are a good fit (Skype or phone calls are available for long-distance clients). This helps my clients gain a better understanding of the full-service process-- what it entails and what to expect. It is also the perfect opportunity to ask any and all questions and discuss any ideas on the client's end. Once you decide to book your session, a non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date of choice. We will meet for your session at the planned time; the remainder of the payment is due in full at the end of the shoot. Once I have finished retouching the photos, we will once again meet in-person for the reveal where you will be able to order your prints. This is where your Print Credit comes into play! While you can choose to order as many prints as you like, you will already have a portion of the cost covered.

Meet the Photographer

Meet the Photographer

Hi, I'm Megan Bernhardt. I'm a mom, a wife, a dog-lover, a gummy bear addict and an artist.

While I had dabbled in photography for a few years in AP art in high school, I really began to study it seriously during my time in the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas in Austin. I built my foundation on a 35mm Canon, countless rolls of Kodak TriX400, and endless hours in the darkroom. After developing my craft on film for over 6 years, I opened the door into the world of digital photography which has led me down my current path of running my own full-service portrait studio. I love portraiture and love working with people. I also love traveling and landscape photography. I'm often at my best when I find ways to combine the two genres; I really enjoy doing outdoor shoots in places like state parks or near geographic points of interest.

More about me: I am originally from North Dallas(I offer sessions in Dallas when I travel to town!) and moved to Austin in 2006 to attend UT. On warm, sunny days you can find my daughter, dog and me down at the greenbelt swimming. We currently reside Northwest of Austin in Lago Vista.
